Four Faith-Growing Books to Read During Quarantine

Bible Coffee books to read in quarantine

Quarantine has become the most boring thing on the face of the planet, and for good reason, too. We are relational beings and, with the exception of a few, we need relationship as a part of the day. Without relationship, we find ourselves rather empty, seeking means of fulfillment that won’t do anything except bring momentary pleasure.

Having become quite bored of watching basketball tik-toks during my free time (come on, Lebron, you’ve got better things to do), I have taken up reading different Theological books. All have proven interesting, and my faith has been strengthened through what I have learned.

If you, like every single other American, are a Christian under quarantine, I suggest mimicking this example. After all, you can’t lose something by reading newer books, and you should see your faith strengthened through your increase in knowledge and love for Christ.

Some books are particularly fantastic faith-strengtheners, as you will see in a moment. All of them can be bought on Kindle Store, so you won’t have to wait a long time for the book to arrive. Try filling your time with one of these, and hopefully, your relationship with Christ will also increase, thus helping satisfy your need for relationship.

A Shot of Faith (to the Head): Be a Confident Believer in an Age of Cranky Atheists (Mitch Stokes)

A Shot of Faith to the Head Mitch Stokes

Written by Christian apologist and theologian Mitch Stokes, this book is the perfect combination of philosophy and apologetics, without delving too deep into the complicated realm of Theology. Mitch teaches the reader how to defend their faith in times of crisis and argument, helping them shore up their own defenses for the Faith. He also addresses different modes of argument and the flaws therein, so as to increase the confidence of a Christian debater. This is a must-read if you use social media at all. Recommended for adults or teenagers struggling with the “why” of their beliefs.

The Pursuit of God (A.W Tozer)

The Pursuit of God A.W Tozer

The Pursuit of God is another fantastic book, centering on the subject of our unquenchable thirst for Christ and the fulfillment therein. Tozer focuses mostly on the realm of faith, talking extensively on deepening our relationship with our Creator. This book will strengthen you love for Christ and, at the end of the day, your faith in Him. A great read for newer Christians.

The Holiness of God (R.C Sproul)

The Holiness of God R.C Sproul

Written by famous theologian R.C Sproul, The Holiness of God should be on a shelf in every Christian household. I personally have quoted from it on several occasions, including my post “What The Holiness of God Taught Us About Speech” which took the basic principles brought in this book and applied them to our daily speech. The post was good, but nothing can come close to the majesty Sproul brings in his writing. He eloquently pens the relationship between the Holy God and the sinful man, with an emphasis (based on Scripture) upon the Holiness of Christ, as the title would show you. A phenomenal read, especially if you struggle with your speech.

More Than A Carpenter (Josh McDowell)

More Than a Carpenter Josh McDowell

Penned by quite possibly the greatest Apologist of our time, More Than a Carpenter is the best book for those that question the reliability of their faith. If you struggle (like I did) to fully and unconditionally believe in the good news of Christ Jesus, this is the book for you, as McDowell takes us on a journey through logic, the fallibility of Scripture, and finally, the death of Jesus and reliability of this event. If you have not read this book before, you have to make it one of your quarantine goals to do so. It’s small, it’s easy to read, but most importantly- it my change your life and strengthen your faith.

If you have already read all of these books, I suggest reading through the Old Testament with either an old translation of the Bible or a commentary from a theologian. The Old Testament, when read through a specific lense, comes alive for a believer, showing the true extent of Jesus’ fulfillment of the prophecies.

Alright, that’s all for today. Thanks so much for reading! I hope you read these books. If you enjoyed this post, make sure to click that Follow button below (or to the side). Then, when I release new content like this, you’ll get notified. Thanks again, and I hope you have a fantastic day!

Thanks for the recommendations! I will check those out!
Advice: You should put a amazon affiliate link to the book and then when someone buys the book from your link you get money! (It is completely FREE btw)

  2. These books sound wonderful! I am going to check them out. One book that I have enjoyed quite dearly is, “A Call to Prayer” by J.C. Ryle. It’s only 30 pages, but jam-packed with truth! After reading this book, I have a better understanding of prayer. I definitely recommend it to anyone, no matter where they are spiritually!
