4 Habits Every Christian Blogger Should Develop Before 2020

The role of Christian Blogger is changing every day. As the culture and world changes, so do we. We adapt, changing our writing and article subjects to include newer events. So, because of this, many Christian bloggers are falling into a type of “identity crisis”. We forget what it means to be a Christian blogger and instead become bloggers. Or, even worse-irrelevant. Becoming irrelevant is probably the most difficult ditch to climb out of, especially as a teenager.

So, to keep from falling into the Pit of Fake Blogger-ness or the Quagmire of Irrelevance, we must check ourselves- are we really blogging as Christian bloggers? Are we relevant? So, to answer these questions and help you redefine your writing, here are four habits that every Christian blogger should be engaging in. If you are a Christian blogger and aren’t following even one of these habits, it’s time for you to step up your game.

  1. Check to see if you are relevant. After every post, re-read through it (this is also helpful for finding grammatical mistakes) and ask yourself, “If I was a first-time visitor to this website, would I be interested or impressed? Would this be relevant to me?” If the answer is no, then you should consider re-writing your post.
  2. Make sure that you blog about God once out of every three posts. This habit is flexible and can be adapted based on your niche. For instance- I usually follow one theme of posts per week. Thus, it’s fairly hard to spread that around. So, instead of 1 out of every 3, I do 5 out of every 15. That way, I might talk about God five times in a month instead of once a week. As previously stated, this habit is flexible. Talking about God is also flexible. The post itself doesn’t need to be about God, but he should be one of the main focuses. If your post focuses on, say, the NFL, make sure to bring the Gospel in. Remind your readers that many of the problems the NFL is facing are created because of decreasing love for God. Hopefully, you get what I’m saying.
  3. Make it clear that you are a Christian blogger, not a blogger that’s a Christian. You aren’t NF. You can’t be both sides of the coin at the same time. In essence, you need to choose whether to be a Christian blogger or a “normal” blogger. It is impossible to be both at the same time. If you’re a Christian blogger, make that clear to your readers. In your “About” page, tell about your personal testimony and alert readers to the fact that you’re a Christian. Of course, this can be difficult when you’re trying to attract both Atheist and Christian readers. Nonetheless, if you don’t stand for anything, you fall as nothing, to quote somebody that I forget.
  4. When you want to be a relevant, successful writer, you need to write. The greatest way to waste both your blog and your writing talent is by refusing to put the time into writing the occasional long post. As of right now, the 19th of November 2019, I am averaging 600 words a post, and that number is rising every time I post. Even if you write just once a month, you’ll find your views and followers rising. Now, if you are one of those people (I’m not referencing anybody specifically- I can’t think of any of you guys that do that), choose one day of the month and put some work into writing. If you can, try to up the word count until the post is 1,000+ words. You will immediately see results, especially if you follow my guide to writing an SEO friendly blog post, as seen here.

Following these habits is a fantastic practice to begin. If you manage to follow all four, you will begin achieving new levels of success you would never have thought possible. Being a Christian blogger is amazing- if we know how to do it. Next week, I’m going to write more on our identity as Christian bloggers.

Until then, thanks so much for reading! I hope you really enjoyed reading. If you haven’t already, be sure to click that Follow button in the bottom right-hand corner (or left if you’re on a PC), so as to not miss out on any new posts. Thanks again for reading, and I wish you a wonderful day.

  3. Great post, Elisha! It’s awesome seeing a young person encouraging others in their blog post writing. Those who claim to be Christian bloggers should definitely consider reading this. You certainly showed the difference between a Christian blogger and a Christian who blogs. This was very well presented!
